What height is cessna 172 captain seat made for?
December 15, 2008
How about other airplanes? is the captain seat made for 5 feet something?
And my height is 170.5cm and I am 16,but almost stopped growing. It hasn't growing since 2 months ago. So I think i stoped growing.
Anyway, do you think height of 170.5cm will be a problem seating in cessna 172 as a captain or co pilot?
Some C-172's and other aircraft have height-adjustable seats, but many don't. Nominally, the non-adjustable seats in a C-172 are made for people between 172cm and 190cm tall. At your present height you'll be marginally OK but you'll probably need a pillow or cusion to see over the instrument panel a little better if the plane does not have height-adjustable seats. The newer Skyhawks you are likely to fly have very high instrument panels and glare shields, so a little "booster seat" may be required, but the older ones (pre-1965) have great forward visibility, even for people only 5 feet ( 152cm) tall.

Got something to say?
You'll be fine. I've seen short people fly Cessna's with no problem. Sometimes you might need to bring a booster cushion.

The seats are generally adjustable, both vertically and horizontally. At 5-7, you will have no problem with the seat.

All I know is that I'm 6'4", and its difficult, but possible!

I am 6'5" tall and have no problem in a 172. But I can't fly a 150. Yoke hits my knees. You on the other hand might need a booster seat. Look at sportys pilot shop.com. You might find one there.
