Flight 1549 Plane Crash Hero Pilot Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger Airbus 320

January 18, 2009

This is a Genuine G-Shot prepared in tribute to a true hero: Captain “Sully” Sullenberger, the Airbus 320 pilot who made the remarkable emergency miracle water landing yesterday of US Airway Flight 1549 on New York’s Hudson River in New York City.

Experience does indeed count, I am about the same age as Capt. Sully, with 27 years experience as a San Francisco 911 police, fire and medical dispatchers with the City and County of SF Department of Emergency Management. I can also attest to the value of training and experience and the need to keep a cool head as so many lives depends upon our every move when seconds really do count.

Well done Captain Sully, we all have reason to be proud of you as a real American hero.

NEW YORK (AP) — A cool-headed pilot maneuvered his crippled jetliner over New York City and ditched it in the frigid Hudson River on Thursday; all 155 on board were pulled to safety as the plane slowly sank. It was,As New York Governor Patterso said, “a miracle on the Hudson.”

One victim suffered two broken legs, a paramedic said, but there were no other reports of serious injuries, just lots of wet socks, Capt. Sully walked the entire length of the sinking aircraft twice to make sures all souls had safely exited the plane.

US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320 bound for Charlotte, N.C., struck a flock of birds after takeoff just minutes earlier at LaGuardia Airport, apparently disabling the both engines.

The pilot, identified as Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III of Danville, Calif., “was phenomenal,” passenger Joe Hart said. “He landed it — I tell you what, the impact wasn’t a whole lot more than a rear-end (collision). It threw you into the seat ahead of you.

“Both engines cut out and he actually floated it into the river,” he said.
No doubt due to his 40 years experience as a glider pilot.

Capt. Sully thank you for a job well done!

    The presentation …
The presentation has been re-edited and reposted with the

music toned down. Mariah Carey’s “Hero” is still the best

accompaniment for this presentation and the Captain and

Crew of Flight 1549 deserve no less.

I plan to prepare a special DVD’s in time for Capt.

Sully’s birthday and present it to him on Friday as he

returns to his hometown of Danville for a true heroes

    welcome!

The video is not my …
The video is not my own, but Cambell Brown summarized the story best and Robin Roberts eye witness report is unmatched. I just pieced it together along with other internet video and photo stills of the plane and passengers in the water and their amazing rescue as New Yorkers came together all playing the part of heroes.

    I began working on …
I began working on the presentation Thursday night the 15th as the events were still unfolding, I posted it first thing Friday morning on the 16th and e-mailed off copies to Captain Sully and to the media-it doesn’t surprise me that they also used that song, Mariah Carey’s words are perfect and I hope that every time we hear it that we will indeed think of Captain Sully and all the heroes of Flight 1549.

    The Captain and the …
The Captain and the flight crew well deserve the respect and admiration of the entire world for a job well done!!

He and they are certainly heroes, along with all the other “First Responders” citizens and members of public safety alike. Americans came together again just like on 9/11, just like we will do to get this country back on its feet. Deep down, we are all heroes, we know it when we see one.

    I also work in …
I also work in emergency services as a 911 police, fire, medical dispatcher and know well the value of training and experience and how we all work together as a team. Just like it has been said about piloting an aircraft, it is indeed hours of boredom punctuated by seconds of terror. It take a cool head and discipline when lives are on the line. The Captain and the flight crew deserve the respect and admiration of the entire world for a job well done!!

    I am disappointed …
I am disappointed that the First Officer isn’t being glorified as well, regarding the U.S. Airways crash yesterday. In modern aviation, that person serves an integral role in the safe operation of their flight. Though the Captain is the commander of the aircraft, he doesn’t fly every leg. I have had emergencies in the past where, as a first officer and the pilot flying, I landed successfully without incident.
