What are the chances of me getting accepted to warrant officer flight training with the army?
February 27, 2009
I am 25 years old, 70 inches tall, and in good shape. I have an AAS degree in aircraft maintenance with an FAA airframe and powerplant license. I have never been in the military. But I am interested in the warrant officer flight training program. Would I have a better chance if I went with the National Guard rather than the Army or vice versa?
You meet the age and education requirements and the licenses will help. Get in touch with an Army Recruiter and start the process rolling. You will have to pass the ASVAB, a MEPS physical, a Class I flight physical and, I believe, an AFAST test (I could be wrong on this).
Make it clear to your Recruiter that you are ONLY interested in the WOFT program and you won't be pushed towards anything else.
Do understand however, that the WOFT program fills rapidly and the vacancies for the year may already be gone.

Got something to say?
Do you have good credit and a clean criminal history? You will need a secret clearance. Is your GT line score on the ASVAB atleast 110? I haven't heard of someone going straight into the warrant program. They become E-5's and then apply. If you have a good performance and meet these requirements then yeah I'd say you are a good candiate. The process can take a long time though. There aren't that many warrant officers either so don't be afraid to stay enlisted or become an commissioned officer with more college. I'm in the same boat and want to be a warrant officer as well. I could be wrong about the having to be enlisted and making E-5 but i'm pretty sure that's a requirement.

I know people that straight out enlisted as WO's and the main things they look at, are your GT score and your criminal history. They are gonna make sure that you are a good person, they will probably even run a credit check. Having all those extras that involve aircraft is only gonna help you though.

All I want to know is if I’m tall enough to be a flight warrant. All the recruiters will tell me is that I will find out at my physical. How tall do you need to be to be a US Army Flight Warrant?
