Takeoff and landing my Cessna 172

This was a 1 hr. flight but I edited out all but the takeoff and landing. I am flying out of KSCD. I have owned this 172 for about 7 months and have been flying for about 4 years.

    Aircraft like the 172 have a mixture control for the carburetor. (typically red, in FSX you can drag it with the mouse) Leaning it means adjusting it for less fuel. The engine has an Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) gauge and you watch that as you lean the mixture. Once the EGT peaks, you enrichen the mixture until the EGT goes down a bit. The amount you have to enrich the mixture depends on the engine.

    Cause I have FSX and I wanna be a pilot but whenever I play I run out of fuel on short flights

    You do that once …
    You do that once you are up at cruise altitude and speed, bring power back, bring the prop back (on a constant speed propeller equipped aircraft) and lean the mixture to use less fuel. On takeoff especially on a short field you need every bit of power you can get.

    why don’t you go slower when taking off to save gas and less lickly to hit an endangered spotted owl. ?

    it’s worth the wait …
    it’s worth the wait. just have as much fun as you can with it. ask your instructor to get you fimilar with spins. its not required but say ”i want to kno what one feels like” and u will be scared your first time. but, its insane!

    yea, stay with it brah. i just spent 1200 on a block of time. its not cheap. but, stick with it, its really fun and its a great future. solo in about 2 months!!! cant wait. doin it on my 16th b-day

    depends on the plane really, some planes require alot rudder. some dont, ive been flying a plane that needs full rudder in takeoff and still goes to the left so I had to start on the right side of the runway hehe

    i think all aircraft should be at least twin engine. single engine is too much risk. why even bother with single engine. i wouldnt use single engine for water crossing of any great distance. airplane need to be made cheaper like cars have over the years become. they are overpriced for what they are. everything mechanical is overpriced in the economy we live in

    fayik123, in a real aircraft such as the 172, you apply just enough right rudder to keep the aircraft on the centerline of the runway. Once airborne you have to keep that rudder applied during a climb to compensate for torque effect.

    Same here! I 13 too but my dad has his private pilots and he rents planes out of Hanscom (KBED) in MA. I’ve been going up with him for 9 years or so. I went up 10/4/08 and I did two takeoffs, one with throttle one witouth and I handled most of the raidos at unicoms. shumck50 do you have paywares on FS?

    in a real aircraft when you take off, how much right rudder do you apply, is it just enough to keep the inclinometer centered. Can you relax rudder pressure once altitude is gained? i gues its all dependent on wind velocity. NOt having rudder trim must really suck for you’re feet
