    The PT -6 is one of the best Engines in the world!!!
    that is why it is almost in every aircraft like the C-208, Pa-46, pc12 and King air and alots more. Strong engine!!!! and shaft horse power from 550 to 1600

    sure but the question is can you pay for it

  5. Timbe1995 on May 30th, 2010 9:38 am

    @Tyler2908KU Ah I see, thanks!

  7. Tyler2908KU on May 30th, 2010 10:37 am

    because that engine has more than 200 hp youre required to have a high performance rating. I live in the US.

  8. pilotphilh on May 30th, 2010 11:20 am

    really? don’t know where you are from but as far as I know here in Canada you can only fly airplanes that have a weight of under 12,500 lbs with a PPL

  9. Tyler2908KU on May 30th, 2010 12:14 pm

    its just an illusion. look at a cars traveling on the high way. notice how the wheels will appear to rotate backwards. its not stopping otherwise the airplane wouldnt have moved forward

    @futureallist.. well youre wrong.. in many senses. you only need a private certificate to fly any plane. a commercial (cpl) only means you can be hired or pay a less than equal share among members on board. secondly you would also need a type rating hor high performance and youd have to be chekced out in the caravan.

    These Caravans are such beautiful looking planes, they look so nice, I may get hired working on these once I get out of A&P school

    @XpvPro1
    It’s just an illusion, because it’s moving so fast 😛

    @mesaman4202 non retract means less maintenance for operator..money making workhorse…durability! agreed with ya.

  14. XpvPro1 on May 30th, 2010 1:47 pm

    is it me or did that propeller keep stopping

  15. futureAlist on May 30th, 2010 2:14 pm

    A cpl will let you fly this, no ratings necessary

  16. biggestMetallicAfan on May 30th, 2010 2:15 pm

    Yes, exactly

  17. XaircraftX on May 30th, 2010 2:24 pm

    yeah a type rating.

  18. pilotphilh on May 30th, 2010 2:47 pm

    @albertomannil Ok.. you say any aircraft that has flaps.. that is in addition to the other conditions then? The Cessna 172 and 150 common trainers have flaps

    ..MUSIC TO MY EARS!….

  20. biggestMetallicAfan on May 30th, 2010 3:47 pm

    Well it depends, like if it’s over 12,000 pound, then you need a rating to fly it.

  21. albertomannil on May 30th, 2010 4:04 pm

    @swanie180 You would need a turbine rating and a complex airplane endorsement. Any aircraft that has flaps, constant speed propeller and/or retractable gear is considered a complex aircraft. Although the Caravan does not have retractable landing gear, it’s still considered complex. Also, unless you have lots of money, you won’t be flying a Caravan as soon as you obtain your license. 1 step at a time my friend.

  22. mesaman4202 on May 30th, 2010 4:47 pm

    the caravan is a workhorse. I work on them for a living and they fly six days a week with minimal problems. it is almost always avionics crap. the pt6 and the caravan are a perfect mix. thats why a outdated aircraft is still making lots of money today. Non pressurized, non retract, slow ass airplane. But a solid piece.

  23. tvoice1 on May 30th, 2010 5:31 pm

    ooh turboprop

  24. adamelnyk on May 30th, 2010 5:57 pm

    turboprops sound better starting up than turbojets or fans, the whining is much more effective.

  25. hydrojet7x70 on May 30th, 2010 6:38 pm

    not jet rating, turbine.

Got something to say?
