Hmmm… I prefer v1… I mean, it’s warmer and it blends better with the guitars tone

    thanks…have a good day..

To my knowledge, every DLS that leaves the workshop now is a V2. There is a ‘bright’ switch inside the pedal that you can use to take it back to V1 if desired. The V1 is a great stacking pedal (put other dirt before it) but the V2 is great too, just a little hotter.

where can i get the version 2? i tried the website of catalinbread but i dont know which version is which? how does the v2 compare to v1? does the v1 is good for stacking with other pedal?

    Yes, Daddy.

Heheh. But only when you’re 7, and not a DAY before! πŸ™‚

I’ll remember you said that! πŸ˜€

Heheh. Well, Shadowrunner, when you turn 7 I’ll let you have a turn of the screw gun as well. πŸ˜€

Wow, you’ve already got her using power tools! lol, I wish you were my father.

The V2 sounded a little smoother to me.

This pedal nails ac/dc perfectly, even with a strat, it has that old school midrangey Young vibe.

Hi! Have asked Erskin or Nicholas about it? By the way, I’m using version 2 with a 9V PS. Thanks again Brett.

    Nice!

They all specialise in different flavours of Marshalls. The DLS is the medium gain Marshall, something you can use as a great stacker with other drives; the Pinnacle aims squarely for the EVH brown sound; and the Crunch Box is souped Plexi (again, ‘brown’ sound, but a little grittier) Which to choose? The medium ground would be the Crunch Box. The multi-purpose choice would be the DLS. The shred option would be either the Pinnacle or the Crunch Box.

Wampler Pinnacle, MI AUdio Crunch Box or DLS? Which is better for Marshall-esque tones?

Glad to see you back up. Your demos are the friendliest. Burgz rulez!

Thanks LW! I’ll take your advice and go real slow. There’s a heap of new videos coming up though so keep an eye out. Thanks again. πŸ™‚

Good to see you vertical, Brett! Realizing that I would never have enough money to retire in a proper manner, it occurred to me that recovery from back surgery was God’s way of letting me have some kind of extended vacation. The pain meds were mints on the pillows. Do everything really slowly for a bit. Great video!

Really glad to see you ripping again.
Surgery sucks but you get a chance to
    appreciate being healthy and all.

    Nice demo as always.
    I wish Catalinbread would have
    put the internal switches outside…

  19. erksin on November 29th, 2010 3:21 am

Every DLS shipped after early June is capable of v1 or v2 sounds via the internal switch. If you don’t like the v2 sound, flick the switch and you’re back to v1.

Guys, there seems to be a movement towards V1. Now, in Catalinbread’s defence, I did not try the V1 setting on the purple DLS so I don’t know if it is exactly the same as the silver one with the ‘bright’ switch out. This needs to be clarified before we start poo-pooing version 2. It is my suspicion that the V2 will give you both sounds but I’ll ask Erskin or Nic to clarify this. Stand by. πŸ™‚

Cool demo as always – V1 sounded better to me…

  22. maubahia on November 29th, 2010 5:33 am

You are back! Good to see you again. Thanks Brett for one more great review! By the way, I prefer the V1 as well.

    Take care.

ps. IΒ΄ve recentry purchased DLS, Modfactor and 72ΒΊ bacause of you man. (and Sadie of couse!). Great pedals!

Thank you. That’s a fabulous thing to hear; most encouraging. I’m going off air again for a couple of weeks while I attend a hydrotherapy resort to get things moving a little quicker. See you towards the end of September. Thanks again. πŸ™‚

I can honestly say I dearly missed your video’s during your operation downtime. It is nice to have the glorious return of high quality gear reviews!

Thank you sir; I shall watch the knobbly knee action. Cheers. πŸ™‚
