EC120BFIRSTFLIGHT
November 1, 2010
First flying lesson (1 hour) for me in a helicopter. I had the opportunity to fly the Colibri (thanks to a brother in law) instead of the R22. This was the main reason that a managed to hover within 5 min. and basic manoeuvres in 30 min. Nevertheless the instructor was a bit surprised. Until this moment, I had 4mnts of ADV206 dodosim experience (with T. Flight Hotas X and CH Pro Pedals) and read the Principles of Helicoper Flight.

Got something to say?
Very good video, thanks a lot
awesome! I am so jelous. The price tag on a hobby like this is just way out of my range
As with all other human machines someone invented the helicopter and they obviously didn’t have anyone to teach them, it isn’t impossible to be able to operate a machine without instruction it just takes extremely advanced knowledge of its operation and a high level of instinct and confidence based on that knowledge. I’m not saying anyone can do this, I’m merely saying it is possible…
Many Happy Landings
Good job !
Fantastic Job!!!!!! I can’t wait to join the Air Force to fly a helicopter!!!
MY dad has 33 years of helicopter flying experience and he said that it is impossiable unless he has flown in a motion simulator before .
This flight took place at LFPN. Compared with the R22 the Colibri feels more stable (and comfortable) when flying. This is because of the more weight (mass) and the hydraulically boosted cyclic etc. It’s also less responsive than the R22.
thanks for the response. I am finishing my training now. I flew R22, R44 and MD500. I currently have approx 120 hrs of flying time looking forward to getting my priate license within a year. Looking forward to seeing other videos of you flying. I am heading to California to ferry a R44 back to Canada, I will try and take some video and post here. Until later.
just flew in a R22 this afternoon. What I would not give to be flying a EC120. It would be my dream to own a helicopter like this one day. Where did this flight take place? You sound American and the instructor is definitely from France. How did it compare to the R22? I was told it is easier in some aspects compared to the small R22. I must admit I am very jealous.
just love the sound of a turbine at start up.
That was amazing indeed.
Lucky bastard! =]
congrats from Brasil
Great video..I’m jealous
