Treble Boosters – a little shootout.
December 24, 2010
Three treble boosters, all highly regarded. Two are Ge, one is silicon, one has a voicing switch. All of them rock hard. Apologies for the scratchy volume pot on my guitar. I need a new one..

Got something to say?
On the Frame will be some letters and numbers. To tell if the speakers have their Original cones there will be some numbers printed in white on the cone up where the spider joins the cone near the voice coil. 003 or 03 or 3 for Lead Cone , or
014 for Bass Cones. These numbers are for the Mid – Late ’60s Pre Rola & Early
‘ 70’s Rola speakers with the prized Pulsonic Cones. If the speaker has a Black Tab where the spkr terminals are, it’s Pre Rola , if Grey , Rola Celestion.
@59TweedVibrolux That’s a good question: How do I tell? The sticker on the back of the speakers peeled off long ago. It it stamped somewhere, perhaps?
Tough call , all 3 are great . Looking for one to push my old ’68 Marshall and add a
little more treble. Great Demo & playing. Original cone Greenbacks ? 003 or 014 ?
@Putaspellonyou Heheh. She’s a little pedal diviner! Heaven sent. 🙂
@Burgerman666 things is she usually picks the better ones…
@Putaspellonyou You’re a brave man. 🙂
i let my daughter choose my pedals all the time too…even in the music store. “buy this one, its prettier”
I change my mind…I like the Soul Sonic the best! The Ted Nugent and Ziggy Stardust licks were just too cool. This will be my 100th distortion box!
I liked the 65 Colour Boost the best. But they all were great. Oh, and Sadie is so ever very precious. What a lucky and great dad you are. You make me regret never having kids.
Sadie prefers the FOUR BANGER! lol……soulsonic WINS!
BSM wins hands down I think
many thanks, i’m sure any high output humbucker would do…
A fair enough request. If I can get my hands on an SG I’ll do the full Heaven and Hell album for you. 🙂
great demo, any chance of doing one with an Sg type guitar to possibly get some iommi tones?
Stonking chops as usual, anyone who can play Blackmore and EVH like you has a gift from a higher authority !. If you ever feel like selling that Redmond 1, scratchy pot or not, let me know, been looking for a long time. All of those boosters sound better than the Java or Time Machine Boost that I had, could be the quality of the chops of course. Good fully chuggin’ stuff, Ziggy played guitar !. Cheers, John.
