Flagstaff physicians and nurses are reporting obesity-related diabetes in children as young as age 4. The school district’s top nurse estimates about 50 percent of the district’s elementary school students will be classified as overweight or bordering on overweight. Elementary school students will be weighed and measured this fall with help from Flagstaff Medical Center’s Fit Kids staff and North Country HealthCare. The nonprofits will target education efforts, particularly to schools with more students with severe weight problems. Letters will go to parents of students who are underweight, overweight or marginally overweight, and will include graphs showing a range of weights for a given age and height

    @crapto324
    Many would consider overeating and obesity just as much of an ED as anorexia or bulimia. Anorexics and bulimics for the most part need help in changing, I feel that society should view overeating in a similar light. People need to stop focusing so much on being certain weight and focus more on leading a healthy life. Mentally and physically. Had I never been fat, I would have never stopped eating. Good on you for being proactive and getting fit, many just need motivation and willpower

    @Dipstikk

    Absolutely 🙂

  3. Dipstikk on January 3rd, 2011 11:28 pm

    @StrictlyForADULTS I nearly lost one of my closest friends to anorexia nervosa. No one has the right to make fun of your body, no matter what size you are.

    Size has no bearing on what kind of a person someone is. Obviously, if it did, and if we’re meant to believe that being thin makes you a good person, then GingerLBC is doing something very wrong.

  4. Dipstikk on January 3rd, 2011 11:45 pm

    @twoule Yes, we should definitely listen to you, as your ideas obviously come from a deeply intellectual and rational place.

    @Dipstikk

    I take my hat off to you for standing up for overweight people,good on you 🙂

    @BerzerkerRage666 u just dont get it. first off, i would like to help any country thats going through what Afghanistan is going through. I hate most of the afghan people there. Afghanistan will not get better of we stay there…it is just making things worse. i am the first to say that. i dont know where you got otherwise. and again, you havent been to afghanistan…you just see whats on the news. and fyl- the news only covers things that have NEWS IN IT.

  8. BerzerkerRage666 on January 4th, 2011 2:36 am

    @elmirasahar I don’t have to go to Afghanistan to know its a stinky shithole full of fail. I am obviously a lot smarter than you. You just don’t realize it. The only way for Afghanistan to rise above ignorance and poverty is to fix the education system and stabilize the economy through job growth. It is senseless to try to help a festering infection like that country. Although I suppose I can’t blame you it is probably where you are from and you want to help your people evolve from peasants.

  9. elmirasahar on January 4th, 2011 2:53 am

    @BerzerkerRage666 it is of no use? so having a child being happy for a few minutes, even hours is of no use? again ur comment comes off ignorant, because u have never been to afghanistan, so u dont know shit. there arent bombs going off every second. how stupid can you be.

    obesity is a medical condition and the parents should be informed that they need to do something to help “cure” their kid, there is a serious risk of heart attack

  11. nappydrew on January 4th, 2011 3:58 am

  13. BerzerkerRage666 on January 4th, 2011 4:53 am

    @elmirasahar I am glad that you help the savages in Afghanistan That is very kind of you Unfortunately itis of no use. Due to the lack of intelligence of the islam they can not hold stable economy Therefore it is the united states job to rape and pillage the resources in order to boost our imperialist nation and feed the multi-national corporations I just hope someday that they r not forced to use their hands as toilet paper And dont worry that orphanage u volunteer at will be bombed soon enough

  14. elmirasahar on January 4th, 2011 5:18 am

    @BerzerkerRage666 lol, ur comment just proves how ignorant you. if you havent been somewhere, please dont talk shit, just makes u sound uneducated. i visit Afghanistan ever few years, and i love it. it is beautiful, and u will never get to experience that. i help out in the orphanage with my family there, and it is one of the best experiences of my life. i help people. what do u do? oh yeah, insult people and there country on youtube. nice….

  15. BerzerkerRage666 on January 4th, 2011 5:49 am

    @elmirasahar Yes you may want to get a life outside of Youtube. You made this comment about 3 weeks ago and its taken me this long to reply. You are very privileged to live in this country. You no longer have to be beaten by your men and scoop poop out of your bunghole with your hand. PS you may want to remove the towel from you’re face in public or our rednecks will yell terrorist and blow your head off. Enjoy your stay. Best Regards, Satan.

  19. CaStylin on January 4th, 2011 7:48 am

    no one said that the kids would have to go home early like they make it seem but none the less this is a big (no pun intended) issue. this is not about self esteem its about long term health need

  20. tjrxk7 on January 4th, 2011 7:48 am

    I got news for the numb-nut four eyes that talks about an ‘obese illigal immigrant’. He’s never seen many Mexicans and their skinny/scrawney bodies that have been starved all their lives. GET REAL TYT!

  21. ThePsychoticScyth396 on January 4th, 2011 8:14 am

    @vcucuz1 and then they’ll wind up as skeletons eventually because they’ll always think they’re fat.

  22. ThePsychoticScyth396 on January 4th, 2011 8:31 am

    Arizona can suck a fat one. next they’ll be sending kids home with notes saying that they should dress how the school wants them to and have the “right” hair style/color mabey even complaining about their eye color! seriously, this DOES hurt the kids. these kids could even stoop to becoming anorexic or bulimic. kids are very sensitive to what others think of them.

  23. ubny1 on January 4th, 2011 9:27 am

    Arizona has some great policies…
