? Difficult Foggy Landing by Private Jet ?

May 6, 2011

Amazing cockpit footage of Cessna Citation Private Jet doing a full ILS approach through thick fog to land on runway 17. The aircraft in question is D-CHZF(www.airliners.net after a flight from Stuttgart, Germany. Addendum (10/02/2011) – Dedicated to the memory of those who perished on approach to this runway in fog on 10th February 2011 aboard Manx2 flight from Belfast – “Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis”

    If the instruments really flashed like that all pilots would have seizures. Good video btw

    @fertobar Nothing. That’s just the effect you get when filming a? computer screen. It’s to do with the refresh rate of the video being different to that of the screen being filmed. It’s the same if you ever see a computer screen on a news report on TV or something like that.

    @cesarparrav It was a 550B Citation Bravo

  5. cesarparrav on May 6th, 2011 5:33 pm

    what type of citation is that?

    @radar050976 most aircraft cockpits are small. If they were too comfy, the pilots would fall asleep.
    as for the landing… ideally, more crew communication…but otherwise, good.

    @carlingfordberg If you like fog, go to Gardemoen, Oslo, Norway, fog 24/7 -_- And it’s really thick!

  10. radar050976 on May 6th, 2011 6:55 pm

    @carlingfordberg Yes I was in Cork City that morning too and the fog was incredibly bad. However lets reserve judgement and not apportion any blame until the full investigation is complete. Anything statement at this stage as to the cause is purely speculation.

    manx2 crashed in the fog at cork rip :'(

  12. carlingfordberg on May 6th, 2011 7:59 pm

    @radar050976 Thanks , I was wondering. the fog was unfortunatly alot thicker two days ago than what is shown on this video for the pilot. I was travelling nearby at the same time in the morning by car and you could barely see a few feet infront of the car.

    It was the thickest fog I have ever encountered in my life. The pilot should have went to Shannon.

    @carlingfordberg Yes it is runway 17 in Cork. The same runway that the ill-fated Manx2 aircraft crashed on yesterday.

    @carlingfordberg Yeah it’s Cork

  15. carlingfordberg on May 6th, 2011 10:18 pm

    is that in cork?

    Hi fellows …………….. “a full ILS approach” ?
    Before “MINIMUMS”
    they could see the runway i.e. visual approach by PAPI.
    Anyway ………. a good vid!

  21. radar050976 on May 7th, 2011 2:13 am

    @superjjskate Very small. I wasn’t even in the cockpit. I was sitting the cabin. The cockpit is tiny.

  22. radar050976 on May 7th, 2011 2:54 am

    @l3thDisciple Thanks. It was a real privilege to have the chance to take that video. Glad you like it.

  23. l3thDisciple on May 7th, 2011 3:52 am

    Excellent cockpit video.. Really good visibility out the windsheild in terms of seeing what the pilots actually saw..

  24. beergut111 on May 7th, 2011 4:50 am

    @LufthansaA343 manually land?…..no cessna product has an autoland feature on the autopilot.

  25. superjjskate on May 7th, 2011 5:40 am

    God, how small is the cockpit.

Got something to say?
