Combat Gen 2.0 Concepts #5 mid flight striking

January 19, 2011

Busting Wing Chun Dogma #3 “Practicing statically prepares you to execute dynamically.” Forms such as ‘Siu lum Tau’ are learnt to be forgotten!! It teaches you some structures, but once you know them MOVE ON. A formula one driver does not continue to practice parralel parking as part of his training. Once learnt, he then focuses on the skills he needs to perform adavnced tasks. Dynamic Mid Flight punching requires dynamic mid flight training. Being able to maintain balance while exploding into your opponent takes practice doing exactly this. To practice statically and expect to be able to adapt during combat is just wishful thinking.
